Sup People,
I hope you are doing well. This pass Juneteenth, I attended the Urban Global Events’ Urban Camp Weekend with two friends of mine. It was a good yet hot Texas heat experience. Urban Global Camp Weekend is an all-new, black-owned, LoneStar Speedway and Twisted Pines RV Park in Kilgore, Texas!
I made the drive the Thursday after work to Macon to meet up with my friend and her long time friend to make the trip to Kilgore TX very early Friday morning. For us, this was a 10 hour road trip, yet it was worth the travel. This trip allowed me to step into new territory with documenting my own experiences, learn new things about myself, grow, and progress towards a more positive direction in my journey.
The experience is a big Texas size BBQ house party with games, food, DJs, comedians, surprise events, recreational activities, free Open bar, discussion panels that will ensure the best camping trip yet. Whether you’re looking to relax, network, make new friends, mingling with other like-minded professionals, or in my case photo documenting the experience, Urban Camp Weekend is the trip to make.
It was awesome to connect, meet genuinely beautiful people of color from across the country, and photograph the experience. The vendors along with their products, foods, services, professionalism are dope. If you haven’t been on a camping trip, I would recommend Urban Camp Weekend. If the heat is too much, I would recommend renting an RV. The heat with the humid are no joke inside the tent during the day time hours, yet its relatively cool at night and comfortable to sleep in. Also be mindful of the pop up showers and potential severe thunderstorms. If the summer is too much for you, they also host one again in October.
